What is a PPG?

PPG is short for "Patient Participation Group". A PPG is made up of patients and staff members. Most surgeries in the UK are looking to have its own PPG. A PPG is all about taking an active interest in the surgery and the services which are provided to its community. PPGs make an important contribution to the well-being of their communities. Future activities can include health promotion, information provision, service delivery, fundraising and strategic input to the practice.

When did Millview PPG start?

The Millview PPG (Patient Participation Group) is a new partnership between patients and the surgery. The first meeting was held in June and was attended by patients and staff as well as Julie Andrews, Patient and Public Involvement Manager for Nottingham NHS, who is assisting in the setting up of our PPG.

What will Millview PPG be doing?

The aims and objectives for Millview PPG are still to be decided. These can be more accurately identified by a group which reflects the patients who use the surgery. Other groups around the country have been involved in numerous activities including patient information, health promotion topics and involvement in surgery development. Once the Millview PPG is established, we can begin to identify in which direction to steer the group. The group will get together approximately once a month for a short meeting.

Why be involved?

The Millview PPG, as it develops, will have some influence on the service which the surgery gives to its community. As a patient, everyone has different ideas as it how Millview can reach out. In order for the PPG to accurately decide its own course and move forward, it needs to have people who are actively interested in working with others to improve the well-being of the Millview community.

How to be involved?

We still need more people to join the group. If you are interested in becoming part of the Millview PPG or have any questions, then please complete the form and hand it to a member of the reception team. Alternatively, you can email the group on - millviewppg@gmail.com
